Mitch Flynn and Ellen Goldstein

For Mitch Flynn and Ellen Goldstein, the decision to name Roswell Park in their estate plans was a natural step. Mitch’s relationship with Roswell Park dates back decades, best exemplified by his founding of Ride for Roswell. For Ellen, Roswell is the place that supported her sister during breast cancer treatment and later became a source for own preventative breast care.

When Ellen and Mitch got married several decades ago, they sat down to plan their estate. That meant figuring out where their life achievements would end up. Roswell topped their list, and they soon joined the Dr. Roswell Park Legacy Society.

“We talk about advances in cancer treatment, and what you get from that is how dramatically, almost exponentially, cancer treatment has changed. If you look at our 35-plus-year decision to leave a legacy for Roswell, it's an investment that has paid off in spades. You can't help but feel good about that,” Mitch said.

Over the years, the pair has witnessed the many ways Roswell Park has grown — from offering preventative services for those with a family history of cancer to advancing cutting-edge research leading to breakthrough treatment options. The hospital has undoubtedly become a beacon of hope.

“Roswell used to be the place that if you were dying, you'd go as a patient. And now it's a place that gives you a chance to live — and live a good life, a decent life,” Ellen said. “People have come here and they've made a difference nationwide. They've really done wonderful things. If we have the chance to make a difference for people all over the world? What an opportunity.”
